Going to start a new way to begin an argument, because, why not? Every Wednesday we’ll run the Barstool Toss Up, where I’ll pose a which one do you prefer question. It can be anything from sports to pop culture to music to anything. We started this with the Enter Sandman introductions and will continue to do this. Just a reminder there is no wrong answer unless you disagree with mine.

Results so far:
Mariano Rivera over Virginia Tech for Enter Sandman intro
TGIF over TNBC

Today we’re staying in the 90s with two classics that really put Adam Sandler on the map. This past weekend there was an Adam Sandler marathon on Sunday morning running everything from Happy Gilmore through The Waterboy and Big Daddy. All classics, but the two that everyone loves are these two.

Both movies have quotes that everyone still knows today. Whether it’s ‘you’re all in big, big trouble’ or ‘you get off your ass and you find that fucking dog’ among all the other greats from Billy Madison. If you’re a Happy Gilmore fan, you’ve likely used ‘uh oh Happy learned how to putt’ while on the course and drilling a putt.

Both movies had a smokeshow for Sandler’s attraction. No surprise though, both had names with the initials of VV. Veronica Vaughn, the absolute rocket for a teacher or Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit. Happy Gilmore did give us the better villain though in Shooter McGavin over Eric from Billy Madison.

I’m giving my vote for Happy Gilmore. Both are two of my 5 favorite movies, but Happy gets the edge. I know Billy Madison came out a year earlier, but Gilmore gets it. Between the quotes, Shooter McGavin and the start of Julie Bowen’s career, that wins for me. What say you?
