Are Republicans Showing Themselves To Be The True Party Of Tolerance?

The mainstream media would like you to believe that the Democrats are the “tolerant” political party. They allegedly represent the downtrodden, oppressed, and overlooked, the Juan Williams and Alan Colmes of the world. They are supposedly the party of diversity. Whether you are a black hedge fund manager or gay ICE agent or Muslim soldier, the Democratic Party are the ones who will accept you as you are.

But who are actually the most forgotten members of our society? Gay people are now celebrated with hit Bravo TV shows and the most electric parades known in human history. We recently had a black President, who was then succeeded in office by the Least Racist President in American history. And Gina Haspel just proved that girls can torture just as good as the boys can.

Neo-Nazis on the other hand, are celebrated nowhere. Their portrayals in media are relegated to Netflix documentaries and Indiana Jones re-runs. For every glowing New York Times profile they receive, they are portrayed as a stock bad guy on Law & Order ten times over. If we are going to measure the tolerance of a political party, shouldn’t we measure it by their willingness to accept the most truly maligned groups?

By this standard, the Republican Party is doing a phenomenal job. Neo-nazis and white nationalists are running for office as Republicans at every level of government, from local seats to U.S. Congress and Senate. Democrats might talk the talk about being the party of inclusion, but Republicans are walking the walk of tolerance by welcoming these candidates into their ranks.

The most notable of these candidates is Arthur Jones, a former member of the American Nazi Party, who ran unopposed for the Republican nomination in Illinois’ Third Congressional District. He will face off against incumbent Democrat Dan Lipinski in November. His platform positions include that the Holocaust never happened and that black people have lower IQs than white people. Whereas Democrats believe diversity is only skin deep, Jones’ candidacy proves that the GOP is committed to real diversity of thought.

It takes barely any effort to put a Pride filter on your Facebook profile picture or a Black Lives Matter hashtag in an Instagram post. It takes real courage to take some of the most hated people in the world and announce to the world, “Hey guys, they’re with us.” The Democrats have slowly become a party of people who look different, but all think the same. Republicans might all look pretty similar, but they think all sorts of different crazy stuff.
