Did 'Gotti' Conspire To Rig Rotten Tomatoes? An Investigative Report!

In one of the more impressive marketing ploys ever done, Kevin “Never-Mad-Online” Connolly has stuck gold again. Telling people who haven’t even seen the movie yet “who do you trust more?!?” is so galaxy brain you just have to respect it. What’s the goal? To convince people they actually already saw it and loved it? Unreal. I’m pretty sure the only people who even saw this movie are the same critics they are trashing in this video.

Their claim of “Audience’s LOVED Gotti!!!” intriguing for more than that reason, though. I noticed yesterday when I was checking Rotten Tomatoes for my blog that they had very weirdly high number of user reviews for a movie that was making no money across only 500 screens. By the time I woke up today, there was already a reddit thread about it. ‘Gotti’ had a really measly opening, but still has over 6900 user reviews. Compare this to, say, ‘Incredibles II’ which set the record for largest opening for an animated movie of all time. They had only a few hundred more, which seems fishy right?

The reddit user did a deeper look into the written reviews as well:

“I went to take a look at the written reviews on RT and of the first 58 reviewers with an available profile 45 had created their account on June 2018;

Out of these 45, 32 have only reviewed Gotti, 10 reviewed Gotti and another movie (7 times it was American Animals for some reason) and 3 had more than 3 reviews.

Of the remaining 13 accounts 8 looked normal and 5 had created their account in December (TLJ?) so those were probably legit.”

Did Connolly/the studio buy a clickfarm to try and save their movie? Well…..it hard to say. You can draw your own conclusions, but the evidence is pretty damning. It also shows how easy it is to corrupt both rotten tomatoes and most review aggregating websites. That’s why I and all users should stick to the simple Lights Camera Barstool user rating system. I just wish ‘Entourage’ was still on because this fiasco would make for a perfect episode. BABY BRO!
