The NFL Reportedly Will Not Allow A Chiefs Players That Just Graduated From Medical School To Have "M.D." On The Back Of His Jersey

PFT- Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, the Chiefs offensive lineman who has accomplished the impressive feat of graduating from medical school after years of taking classes in the offseason, has reportedly been told that he will not be allowed to put “Duvernay-Tardif, M.D.” on the back of his jersey.

Montreal-based sports reporter Andy Mailly-Pressoir reported that Duvernay-Tardif (who grew up in Montreal) was rejected in his attempt to get M.D. on his jersey. “I want to put Duvernay-Tardif M.D. on my jersey,” he said in February. “I’ve already started a conversation with the league office and they say that anything is possible.”

But apparently the league has decided against it.

Roger “The Fun Sponge” Goodell strikes again! Listen, I will admit that I hate when I see a car with an M.D. on the license plate. Not because it’s someone trying to act like they are better than me. But because it’s a reminder that someone IS better than me. I have a few friends that are doctors (nbd) and the amount of work/debt they took on during their 20s just so they could help out other people is CRAZY. Yeah the money isn’t too shabby once you climb out of the suffocating debt. But it’s not like the day-to-days of dealing with people with different health issues is a walk in the park. Getting that M.D. title and having people refer to you as Dr. is why you read all them books. To deny Laurent Duvernay-Tardif this basic human right is a travesty to the nth degree! Especially since the NFL allows fathers of sons with their name to wear Sr. on their jerseys. If those players get to humblebrag about their dicks being good at their job, why can’t Laurent humblebrag about his brain being good at its job? Based on all the CTE talk these days, the NFL could certainly use that type of good P.R.

And it’s not like Larry (trying to dumb his name down so he doesn’t seem so pretentious) wants anything crazy on his jersey. He just wants a simple M.D. Not “Dr. Feelgood”, “The Surgeon”, or anything out of the XFL. Do the right thing for once Roger and let this man have his jersey.

*To be honest, I really don’t care either way about this mostly because those M.D. license plates actually do make me feel like a dumb piece of shit every time and if we open up M.D. being allowed on jerseys then every Esquire in the NFL is going to want ESQ. on their nameplate And I hate people who put ESQ. at the end of their name. Except for Mike Portnoy Esquire. He’s the bees knees. But still, fuck Goodell.
