Wake Up With Jose Bautista Getting His Clock Cleaned By Rougned Odor
This goes on my Mount Rushmore of baseball clips, this is my promise to you that I will never get tired of watching this clip.
Jose Bautista on first base with Justin Smoak at the plate. Smoak grounds to Adrian Beltre at third. Beltre flips the ball to second baseman, Rougned Odor. Bautista comes in like a madman, is basically on top of the base when he decides to start sliding, whips his legs out to take Odor’s legs out as well. Fun fact, Rougned Odor doesn’t play that shit. Bautista loves to try and mix it up with anyone and everyone on the field, but he picked the wrong guy.
Odor almost looks like he’s trying to throw the ball at Bautista too, he’s lucky that the ball didn’t hit him. But Joey Bats pops right up and is all up in Odor’s kitchen. They start to jaw back and forth, Odor clearly takes offense to something Bautista says and gives him a nice 2 handed shove. Bautista tries to attack Odor, but it’s too late. Odor lays one of the cleanest punches I’ve seen landed on a baseball field.
Glasses fly off of Bautsita’s dome, helmet spins off, and then the best part…. Odor straight up smacks Bautista with his glove. Beltre scooped up Bautista pretty quick before the rest of the guys got over there, but still a pretty good tussle between these guys. I love it. Players were going after each other, coaches, everyone. I will say, I am impressed that Bautista was able to stay on his feet, especially when it looked like the lights were on but no one was home after Odor landed that punch.
This had to be carryover from the emotions and all that from Bautista’s bat flip in the playoffs a year earlier, but it’s no surprise that Bautista and the Blue Jays found themselves in the middle of benches clearing. Most MLB fights you get some shoving and people holding back, we saw punches thrown here, love that.
One of the most entertaining fight I can remember on a field, and I’m still trying to buy an 8 X 10 of this to hang in my basement. Rougned Odor drinks for free next time I see him.
