I Don't Think Kevin Durant Is Going To Have Many Fans In Portland

So this clip is from CJ McCollum’s podcast, and I have to admit it made me legit laugh at my desk when I gave it a listen. Look you can hate Durant for joining the Warriors thus guaranteeing them a title basically every season, but the facts are nothing he said in this clip was false. Obviously they were talking about Boogie joining GS and I can understand why some fans may be annoyed by this, it’s basically Durant talking down to CJ in a way that’s only possible because he joined an already established super team. I get that, but again what did he say that was false. I would imagine that if Durant did not have any rings and was still in OKC and this exact same move happened he would feel a lot more like McCollum than he thinks. That little dagger right at the beginning where he was basically like “Come on man, you’re not winning the title anyways”, had to cut deep, but the truth often does.

Now obviously these two are friends and Durant was just busting balls, but that doesn’t mean words don’t hurt.. Him laughing about Nurkic, telling him not to worry about what happens at the top of the league, playing like an 8 seed, all funny to everyone who isn’t a POR fan. Again, I get that people hate Durant now, but the one thing I can say is he’s brutally honest every time I’ve ever heard him on a podcast. I find that interesting. Personally, I’m not sure how a Boogie in POR situation would have worked. They don’t really play two bigs at the same time, with Aminu playing a small ball four, and I actually agree with Durant when he talks about how it would be too much of the same thing with Boogie/Nurkic. Unfortunately we’ll never know. Some people are predicting the Blazers take a step back next year, that they didn’t really do all that much to improve, but I disagree. If they stay healthy I still think they can be a top 4 team in the West. A legit title contender may be a bit much, but they’re still going to be pretty good.

I’ll tell you what though, I’m ready for the first GS/POR game at the Moda Center. Sure the Blazers may not win, but I think it’s safe to say Blazers fans are going to boo the shit out of Durant. Give me a hard Nurkic foul on KD or something like that to get the crowd going. Listen, the only way anyone is going to shut up any Warrior, whether it’s Durant or Draymond or whoever, is by beating them. Until that happens, the rest of us just have to deal with the players and fans talking shit like Durant did here.
