Surprise! General John Kelly Has Accepted Trump's Request To Remain Chief Of Staff Through 2020
It’s been an interesting ride as chief of staff for General Kelly, and this news continues that trend. All rumors had it that he was out. After bringing discipline to the West Wing in the months following his arrival last year, report after report claimed in recent weeks that he’d lost control, lost order, lost the discipline that he desired, and was therefore on the way out. From face palming at the U.N. to rolling his eyes at NATO, it’s felt for a while now that this partnership was coming to an end. There were rumors Trump had completely dismissed Kelly’s say in the White House.
Powerful, influential, commanding figures were being floated as potential replacements.
As much as I’d love to see Hope’s spunky self stroll back into the West Wing and dominate the Jim Acostas of the world, I find there to be a calming feeling knowing General Kelly is by Trump’s side. Not quite an “everything’s completely fine” feeling but more of a “well if Trump decides to nuke somebody there’s a chance Kelly might tackle him” feeling. It’s better than nothing.
Here’s what the media is saying.
