New Reports Say Rick Pitino Was A Central Figure In Recruiting Brian Bowen And Other Schools Offered Money
[WDRB] – Former Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino was a “central figure” in the recruitment of Brian Bowen as early as 2015, working with a former agent to arrange a visit to campus and discussing fears that other schools were trying to pay Bowen’s family.
It’s August, which means it’s a new month for a new report regarding the FBI investigation into college hoops. This time it’s Rick Pitino and a not so shocking report. This one says that Pitino was the central figure in the recruitment of Brian Bowen – the player accused of taking $100,000 and ultimately led to the firing of Rick Pitino.
But, that’s not the story here. The story here is that DePaul offered Bowen $200,000. DePaul! I love it. I’m all for these kids getting paid, because, why not? It’s not my money and I don’t give a shit if they take a couple hundred to go play basketball. But, DePaul! It’s a crazy world is right there, Ricky.
Here’s the exciting part though for me. Pitino is coming out with a tell-all book in a month. How is that going to read compared to these reports? Plus, you have David Padgett here testifying that knowing what Pitino knew should have been enough to back off the recruitment.
Man, I wish he went to DePaul. That would be awesome.
