Toronto Is Pissed The Raptors Can't Get A Christmas Day Game, But It Makes Sense Why They Are Left Out

So this has been floating around for the last 12 hours or so. After the Christmas Day schedule got released, Raptors fans were pissed as they felt left out. You look at the schedule and all the contenders to make the NBA Finals are playing, except the Raptors.

They apparently tried to make a push to get on Christmas Day, something they just can’t seem to do. Ultimately it comes down to business. It’s as simple as that. The NBA is going to try to draw in American television viewership. That’s not to say Americans won’t watch the Raptors, but more people know the Knicks. Diehard fans are going to watch. That’s no secret. The key is bringing in casual fans.

That’s why we have LeBron vs the Warriors. That’s why we have the Knicks. That’s why we have Giannis. That’s why we have Celtics vs Sixers. If they want to complain about Blazers/Jazz, I get it, but it’s the west coast. The Raptors aren’t going to head West for the Christmas Day game nor should they nor will a west team head to Toronto.

I would have loved to see a Spurs vs Raptors game or a Celtics vs Raptors game. Either one would have been awesome, especially if Kawhi is playing. But until the TV viewership in Toronto makes a bigger difference, it’s not going to happen.
