The Best Movies From Each State: Arizona

Movie States in line

The results from the third installment of my totally normal and not insane 51 week study of the top three movies from each state are IN. Remember everyone got three votes, so the percentages reflect how many times they appeared on every individual vote. For the Grand Canyon state, this is what y’all chose.

3. Jerry Maguire

I love this pick from you guys mostly because I love this scene. One of the first, and probably the best, movies about the relationship between and agent and client, it’s a must-see from the Tom Cruise inventory. Also probably Cameron Crowe’s (Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky) best movie. It’s infinitely quotable between this line, “You had me at hello” and “Help me help you”, and it completely deserves to place.

2. Joe Dirt

This is a big ole frozen chunk of poopie! Joe Dirt travels all over the country, but considering most of the movie revolves around Joe being abandoned at the Grand Canyon, I think this is a great choice. It’s objectively hilarious and still very rewatchable, so I’m pumped you guys gave it the credit it deserves.

1. Sicario

I will go to my grave saying this is one of the best, most tense scenes in movie history. Taylor Sheridan is a god among writers and Denis Villeneuve is the same among directors for this movie alone, and it’s a must-watch movie by any metric.

Here is the breakdown of how you voted:

Votev2

I will say that I’m very surprised ‘Tombstone’ didn’t make it, and I thought ‘Raising Arizona’ had a pretty solid chance to win and it didn’t even place! Wild, but that’s why these votes are up to you and not me. Now we are on the the Natural State, Arkansas. Google automated some weird choices, including a repeat in “Thelma & Louise”. I think this will be a pretty tough vote for the top 5, and I’m curious to see how you guys vote. If the embeded form doesn’t work, click here.

We also had a lively episode of the pod today, including a ranking of the top 10 sit down chain resturants and the probability that James Corden ends up in James Bond. This insane photo of Sofia Vegara at Buca di Beppo had me crying laughing.
