Did You Know What The Most Played Music Video In The History Of MTV Was?
It was ‘Sledgehammer’ by Peter Gabriel.
Kinda wild, huh? Obviously I missed out on MTV’s heyday, but I feel like I’m still well within my right to say you’d expect MTV’s most played video to be something like ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’ by Britney Spears…
That’s my most played amirite fellas?*
Or ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson…
Or ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ by Nirvana…
Or even ‘Vogue’ by Madonna…
…but nope, it’s ‘Sledgehammer’ by Peter Gabriel. Nothing against the song or video, by the way, I think the song is a funky-ass jam with a killer bass line, and the video is certainly awesome, but I was just shocked to read this fact the other day and thought it was worth sharing. Fun little party fact for ya next time you’re reminiscing with your pals about the good ol’ days when “Music Television” had literally anything to do with music. God I miss VH1 as well. Countdowns hosted by Sebastian Bach on a Sunday morning were so clutch for years. Oh well! Back to their regularly scheduled programming of…*checks MTV’s website*…Teen Wolf Mom Goes To Floribama Shore 2.
*This was a joke about jerking off. Just wanted to clarify in case anyone was confused.
