Kate Fumbles At The Office

Whether they’re teachers or students, lots of people are heading back to school right now & new faces can be scary. I know how you feel; by all accounts I’m still a newb & learning the ropes here at Barstool. What’s the spaghetti policy? Is it frowned-upon to put the toilet seats down? Does insurance cover snaggle-tooths? Having been here for only five months I’ve worked from home for most of them, though I’ve just finished moving back up to NYC from the magical land of Delco in the Philly ‘burbs. Now I’m here at the HQ office full time & want to make a good impression, but don’t wanna look like I’m sweatin’ it.

And it’s not that I’m nervous, because from day one everyone was ridiculously nice & that trend has continued…

…but if you’re painfully awkward like myself a new job can be intimidating, especially one where you’re in the spotlight. One time a commenter noted that I, “seem funny but she also seems like she would send you a picture of her big shit in the toilet bowl,” and I only knew that because friends from all phases of my life screen-shotted it & texted it to me dying like it was true.

Side note – everyone look away for a second until the next paragraph. (Todd, if you’re reading this check your Insta. Dropped some major timber off @ the river last nite.)

So here’s a small tip for anyone starting fresh like me – the awkwardness is worth it! If there’s one thing I took away from high school (besides how to give a dry, painfully squeezy hand job) it’s that if you push yourself to step out of your comfort zone & interact you’ll make a good impression & only good things can happen. Bust out of those elevators & into the office with confidence. Don’t be afraid to be yourself. Reach out for success, and maybe lose control of your limbs in front of the handsome intern along the way & smash an LG Widescreen.
