The City Of Philadelphia Deserves This Mural Of A Shirtless Beau Allen

Chris Long via KickStarterOn March 15, 2018, we lost a friend, a family member, and a great football player.

Beau Christian Allen was born November 14, 1991 in Minnetonka, Minnesota. He was a bright and happy boy growing up with friends always around. He and his buddies would spend all their time after school playing football in the backyard till the sun was setting and he was called in for supper. He always liked to say, “ you can call me anything, just don’t call me late for supper.”…

…With Beau Allen no longer with us, we mourn his loss. Not many cities understand that the defense wins games, championships, and Super Bowls, but Philadelphia Eagles fans understand this. With Allen’s too recent departure we shall miss him and his spirit.

To commemorate Allen’s legacy, on July 8th , 2018, teammate Chris Long tweeted , “I might pay someone to put up a mural of @Beau_Allen in Philly.” That tweet went out and received a heap of replies, eventually the right artist was found, and the location was set in South Philadelphia, and now all we need is your help funding the project. Beau Allen might be gone, but we will “Never Forget” Beau Allen.

Here’s a concept that not a lot of people have the opportunity to comprehend. Winning a Super Bowl actually sucks. Wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy. Because all anybody ever talks about when it comes to winning a Super Bowl is the celebration afterwards. They talk about being world champs and being able to hold onto that title for at least a year. They talk about the parades and the rings and all that jazz. But the thing about winning a Super Bowl that really sucks? You end up losing a bunch of dudes on that team who brought you that glory. Whether it’s coaches getting picked up for head coaching gigs elsewhere or players who end up signing elsewhere because the NFL is a business and what have you. No matter what, you never get to go into the next season with the exact same group of guys who you just won a Super Bowl with the previous season. And it breaks my damn heart that Beau Allen is no longer a part of this team here in Philly.

Very few athletes in this city have ever been able to fully appropriate themselves into the Philadelphia lifestyle. We’re a meat and potatoes city. We work hard, we party harder. Beau knows what I’m talking about.

He’s like Rocky if Rocky laughed at every poop joke he ever heard and liked his own Tweets. I would defend a statue of Beau Allen until the day I die, and the same goes for this mural if it ever actually goes up. Obviously that snowflake Chris Long as asking for a pretty penny in order to get this artwork commissioned, but just think about how much Beau Allen has given you over the years. Every time you get to go out of the city and start an “E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles” chant with pride, you can thank Beau Allen for that. Every time you get to tell people that the Philadelphia Eagles are world champions, you can thank Beau Allen for that. Every time there’s a few extra beers laying around and you heroically finish them because know that’s what Beau would do, you can thank Beau Allen for that. So when you think about it that way, Beau Allen is worth way more than whatever you end up donating to the cause. You can’t put a price on Beau Allen, and it’s only right that this magnificent bastard be immortalized in this city. It would just be a damn shame if anybody where to end up vandalizing the mural by spray painting some male genitalia in or around Beau’s face. Would hate to see it happen.
