Austin Rivers Is Already Not Listening To His Coach
(theScore) – Austin Rivers has quickly taken on the high-confidence culture of the Washington Wizards.
The 6-foot-4 combo guard is coming off a career year with the Los Angeles Clippers and joins a Wizards team with greater depth than recent years.
“I think we’re heavily slept-on,” Rivers told CBS Sports’ James Herbert. “Team’s been to the playoffs, what, the last five, four or five years? Then going into this year, you add me, Dwight Howard, Jeff Green and nobody seems to talk about us. So I just think we’re heavily slept-on, but that’s fine. At the end of the day, nothing really matters until the season starts and we set that tone for ourselves. I get the hype of a couple of the other teams, but I think we have a chance to compete with the best of the East.”
Jesus Christ, what is it with these assholes? Was Austin Rivers not paying attention when YESTERDAY his coach asked his players to shut the fuck up talking about their talent/hype/etc and just play. So what does Austin Rivers do? Immediately goes out and tells people the Wizards are slept on and they can compete with the best of the East. Is this why his own father traded him? Because he never listens? What I need to know is did he say this last night after their win over the Pistons. You know the game in which he scored 7 points on 3-8 shooting. That would make me giggle.
So for the millionth time, allow me to tell another Wizards player that nobody is sleeping on you. They are evaluating you based on what you are, which for the last few decades as been a team high on top end talent that never seems to get over the hump. Nobody is talking about you because adding you and Dwight Howard does not change anything. Literally nothing. Last year you were projected to win 49 games, and won 43 (no Wall hurt). This year you’re projected to win like 45 because the entire basketball world is tired of getting sucked into this false hope that the Wizards are a top 3 team in the East. Right now, they are not. Adding fucking Jeff Green isn’t going to change the minds of anyone who has seen him actually play basketball. Why is this hard to understand. Instead, maybe be quiet and prove us all wrong instead of saying stuff we all know the team can’t back up.
But it’s good to see Austin Rivers has been on the Wizards for like five seconds and already fits right in. I look forward to someone following up with him on this when they win 44 games and are the 7 seed for like the millionth year in a row.
