XXXTentacion Admitted To Domestic Violence And Being An All Around Piece Of Shit On A Recording In 2016
Pitchfork- When he was shot and killed in June, Florida rapper XXXTentacion was awaiting trial for a 2016 domestic abuse case involving a former girlfriend. He was charged by the Miami-Dade County state attorney’s office with aggravated battery of a pregnant victim, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering, accusations the alleged victim detailed in a January 2017 deposition. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and maintained his innocence up until his death. Now, Pitchfork has obtained a secretly recorded tape of XXXTentacion talking with acquaintances around the time of his October 8, 2016 arrest.
Uh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Some people owe Vic Mensa an apology! This whole XXXTentacion saga has been wild to say the least. When he was alive, people called him a piece of shit for allegedly beating up his girlfriend. When he got gunned down in the street, there were debates about whether or not people should be celebrating his death. Then the weirdest thing of all happened, as time went on people just straight up forgot about the alleged domestic violence stuff and started talking about XXX like he was the best thing that ever happened to hip hop. They were saying he was this generation’s 2Pac just because they were both rappers and both died by getting shot a bunch of times. For the record, those two things are the only things that make 2Pac and XXX similar in any way.
You don’t believe me when I say the world started to herald XXX as some sort of musical icon after his death? He won Favorite Album at the AMAs!
I didn’t listen to it but I bet that album stunk. It sure as shit wasn’t better than Khalid’s ‘American Teen” People just love giving awards to people posthumously.
Well now everybody who was on XXX’s side is about to eat a heaping plate of crow thanks to this unearthed recording from 2016. It’s XXX just admitting to a whole bunch of crazy shit. Like beating his girlfriend and making her scared of him and oh stabbing a whole bunch of people. What a swell guy! By the end of the day I need a public statement from everyone who defended XXXTentacion and how bad they now feel that they did so.
I do worry that we’re living in an age where even this recording won’t matter. There are people who love XXX and won’t be swayed by a literal recording of him talking about beating up his girlfriend and scaring her. These days everybody is able to choose who they want to follow and what news they want to take in so they bend truth and reality to fit their likes and needs. We’re living in such crazy times that there are probably gonna be people out there who like XXX more after this. Why? I have no idea but it’s bound to happen.
