Redskins Go Up To The Meadowlands And Give Eli And The Giants The Business

What a great win up in the Meadowlands. It wasn’t particularly pretty, but man, the Redskins defense is for real. Sacked Eli 7 times and picked him off twice, while holding Saquan to 38 rushing yards on 13 carries (2.9 avg). Eli picked up some garbage time yards, but he wasn’t even close to being good today. OBJ is a monster and you have to expect that when playing the Giants, but the Skins defense shut everyone else down, abused the Giants Oline, and carried the Skins to victory.

Just like last week, the offense was meh at best. Alex Smith looked more comfortable, but it still isn’t all there. Thankfully he remembered he has Jordan Reed on the team, and fed him to the tune of 7 grabs, which was greatly needed. Josh Doctson had his best game of the season, good for 5 catches and 49 yards, which seems very pedestrian until you realize we’re talking about Josh Doctson, in which case it makes me want to throw a parade. And of course the offensive MVP, Adrian Peterson. Put the team on his back and galloped for 149 yards and a TD, and caught another. Thank the good lord we signed him when Guice went down, I don’t want to think about this offense without him carrying the rock.

If the Skins offense can put anything remotely functional together, this team is scary. I mean the pieces are there, Reed, ADAP, Paul Richardson has been looking sharp, and Chris Thompson is getting healthy again—they just need Gruden to put together a solid game plan and for Alex Smith to execute much better than he has been.

Your Washington Redskins now sit at 5-2, atop the NFC East with the Falcons coming to town next Sunday. First place feels great.
