April 19, 2014 in Langley, BC against the Vancouver Stealth. That was the last time that the Philadelphia Wings won a game in the NLL. After the 2014 season, the Wings relocated to New England to become the Blackwolves. Then the return of the Wings 2.0 has been heavily documented on this here website and the new franchise is playing in their “inaugural” year.

6 games into the year and the Wings have come close a bunch of times but they just haven’t been able to find a way to finish games out. That is, of course, until tonight against the Rochester Knighthawks.

It certainly wasn’t a pretty game by any means. The Wings built themselves up a lead. They lost a lead. They were able to come back from being down. It was a back and forth game for sure.

The Wings were able to get themselves a nice little 2 goal lead with 2 minuets left in the game. But for some reason, this team seems allergic to closing out games. And then with just 20 seconds left in regulation, Cody Jamieson tied the game at 14-14 to send this bitch into overtime.

But then…in overtime…after Trevor Baptiste won the opening faceoff in the extra period…

Unbelievable. It all starts off with this absolutely ridiculous play from Kevin Crowley to save the possession from an over&back.

And then from there, it was Big Daddy Blazer coming up huge again with the game winning dagger in overtime.

What a game. And what a night in Philadelphia. It may have taken 7 games this season to get in the W column for the first time, but that doesn’t change how sweet it feels. Fuckin’ right, boys.
