A Jogger Fought Off And Killed A Mountain Lion While Out For A Run In Colorado
NBC News- A trail runner fought off and killed a mountain lion in self-defense in northern Colorado on Monday, state officials said. The runner, who wasn’t identified, was attacked on the West Ridge Trail at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space in Larimer County near Fort Collins, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, or CPW, said in a statement. Authorities didn’t say how the runner managed to kill the mountain lion, which they described as a “juvenile.” They said the lion lunged at the runner, biting his face and wrist and causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“The runner did everything he could to save his life,” said Mark Leslie, CPW’s Northeast region manager. “In the event of a lion attack you need to do anything in your power to fight back, just as this gentleman did.”
Hmmmmm not sure I believe this story. It just seems too good to be true. More like mountain lyin am I right. For real though, you’re telling me a mountain lion attacked a guy FROM BEHIND and the guy not only survived but killed the mountain lion with his bare hands? Sounds too good to be true which means it’s probably is. Were there any witnesses to this heroic feat? I didn’t think so. I bet this jogger found a dead mountain lion, threw a couple jabs at its dead body like it was a punching bag and then made up an epic tale about how he got attacked and killed it.
HMMMMMMMMMM
Authorities didn’t say how the runner managed to kill the mountain lion
Seems a little suspect. Feel like they could ask the runner how he managed to kill the mountain lion but maybe even he doesn’t know because he made the whole story up. Either way, this is solid evidence that going out for a job is incredibly dangerous and you shouldn’t ever do it. Even if he didn’t kill the mountain lion, he was clearly in an ares where mountain lions reside and that’s not where you wanna be.
By the way, this seems like very bad advice from the CPW region manager
“The runner did everything he could to save his life,” said Mark Leslie, CPW’s Northeast region manager. “In the event of a lion attack you need to do anything in your power to fight back, just as this gentleman did.”
The rule when a wild animal is attacking you has always been, “Pretend to be dead and they’ll leave you alone” but now region manager Mark Leslie is saying you should fight back as much as possible? Which is it? We’ve got mixed signals on whether or not to attack the wild animal that’s attacking you.
