21 Savage Went On Good Morning America This Morning To Tell His Side Of The Story

Wild stuff here. Super interesting to finally get to hear from the man himself about how this whole situation went down. First off it’s now clear it wasn’t an accident that he got arrested and then his immigration status came up, he was targeted for being in the country illegally.

“We got Savage” is such a wild line from the cops when they pulled him over and came up to the car with guns drawn. He must have felt like he was in a movie. That sounds like some shit the cops would say arresting Dom Toretto in a Fast and the Furious movie.

His lawyers think he was targeted for a line in his hit song “a lot” off his latest album where he says “Went through some things, but I couldn’t imagine my kids stuck at the border”

Savage says he doesn’t know if that’s the reason but his lawyers (which were hired by Jay Z) definitely seem to think thats the case along with him just being a celebrity so if Jay Zs lawyers believe that then I sure as hell can get behind it.

Just to clear up a few things 21 Savage was born in Britain but moved to the US with his mother at 7 years old. They went back for a brief stint and then returned to the States in 2005 when he was 13 and his visa expired the next year in 2006 but has been here ever since and has had three kids who were all born in the states. He has been arrested in the states but it was just marijuana charge which was expunged last year.

While he was in the detention center he spent the entire days in solitary confinement by himself. Seems a little cruel and harsh, but I did a 4 day stint in jail when I was initially arrested for a weed charge and it was policy at the jail to be in solitary your first week there so I would imagine thats how everyone who is thrown in there is treated.

He is technically still vulnerable to be deported but his lawyers are very confident that he will be able to stay and the most recent word is the Department of Homeland Security is not actively looking to deport him.

If you haven’t already picked this up I love 21 Savage. I’ve loved him since my best friend Hames put me on to him when he was still on Soundcloud and I’ve loved everything he’s done musically since then. It sucked he missed the Grammys last week where he was nominated for two awards and missed performing his nominated song live with Post Malone. Can’t help but think they were sending a message by the timing of the arrest.

Free 21 Savage and keep him free. Need the post arrest project like I need air to breathe.
