Woodstock's Rumored Lineup Is Prettay, Prettay, Prettay...Good
LoudWire- A huge list of bands reportedly playing Woodstock’s 50th anniversary festival has been leaked. According to Variety, Robert Plant, Greta Van Fleet, Cage the Elephant and more are confirmed to perform.
Woodstock 50 will take place from Aug. 16-18, paying tribute to the most iconic music festival in history. Legends like Jimi Hendrix, the Who and Jefferson Airplane headlined the 1969 fest, so to keep the spirit of peace and love alive, a lineup of classic, throwback and art rock has been booked.
Variety reports the Raconteurs, Imagine Dragons, Run the Jewels, Gary Clark Jr., Cage the Elephant, The Killers, Greta Van Fleet, Margo Price, Sturgill Simpson, Portugal the Man, Dawes, the Lumineers, Bishop Briggs, Pussy Riot, Courtney Barnett and Dorothy have all been confirmed.
Jay-Z, Dead & Co., the Black Keys and Chance the Rapper are rumored to be the Woodstock 50 headliners, while Santana, Halsey, Miley Cyrus, Janelle Monae and Brandi Carlile are reportedly finalizing their deals to play the fest.
“There’s always been lots of rumors around Woodstock. We have excellent partners and an incredible talent lineup of over 80 artists which will be announced within the next couple of weeks. We’re preparing a once in a lifetime event,” Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang recently said.
Alright! Not friggin’ bad, Woodstock! Not bad!
Obviously, nobody’s ever gonna be satisfied with ANY lineup configuration when you’re putting together a Woodstock 50th Anniversary Festival, because the old folk just wanna see the lineup they had…well, 50 years ago, the kids just wanna see Post Malone, Ariana Grande, and Travis Scott, and everyone in-between who complain about being born in the wrong generation incessantly would rather all of their specific favorite bands and acts perform, but this feels like a damn good mix of all of the above.
We got Robert Plant, Dead & Co., and Santana in the mix for the old timers, Jack White’s old band the Raconteurs, Greta Van Fleet, Gary Clark Jr., Cage The Elephant, The Black Keys, The Killers, Pussy Riot, and Courtney Barnett slotted in for the rock n’ rollers, and Jay Z, Chance the Rapper, Miley Cyrus, Halsey, Brandi Carlile, and Imagine Dragons (lol) rounding out the lineup for the kiddos. That ain’t bad! It sounds like a festival that I’d definitely want to attend!
Obviously, this is all sorta just rumors as of right now, and more artists can and will be added to the lineup, but it’s a hell of a start if you ask me. Let’s get John Mayer, Foo Fighters, Alanis Morisette, and a Rage Against The Machine reunion thrown on there as well, now, if you don’t mind. Please and thank you.
Hopefully the most vapid insta-bitches on the planet don’t ruin this like they ruined Coachella years ago.
