Neat: If You Have $626 In Your Bank Account You Have More Money Than R. Kelly

In R. Kelly’s song ‘Ignition’ there’s a thoughtful chorus that goes as follows:

Bounce Bounce Bounce Bounce Bounce Bounce Bounce
Bounce Bounce Bounce

And that might have more in common with his bank checks than any booty, if any, that he sees these days…

From NME:

Newly released court documents have revealed that R.Kelly only has $625 to his name, after the controversial musician faced a series of legal battles.

The R&B icon is currently on bail after being charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse in February. He pled not guilty to the charges and was released after posting his $100,000 bail.

While it’s thought that a close friend posted the bail, Kelly’s financial difficulties continue to run much deeper. As well as owing $160,000 in child support (which was paid with the help of a friend), Kelly was reportedly sued by the landlord of his Chicago studio after he owed a staggering $200,000 in back rent.

The landlord won $173,000, which led Kelly’s creditor, Midwest Commercial Funding, to seize some of his various bank accounts. They also issued subpoenas to Sony; the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers; and Kelly’s other bank accounts in an attempt to work out how to claw back the money.

The court docs showed Kelly did have two other accounts worth $44,595.58 and $110,056.64 from Bank of America, but after it’s been seized all he’s got left is that $625.

At his peak the singer’s net worth was around $150 million. Now he’s broke, only getting by with the help of friends (who are these friends?! why are they doing that?!), and facing up to 70 years in prison after a past rife with sex acts/pornography involving minors has finally come to a head.

Perhaps he’ll be able to slant this like he did in a 2008 interview when asked about how he likes teenage girls.

“When you say teenage, how old are we talking?”

“When you say $625, how much are we really talking here? Isn’t that just a number? Does it really *mean* anything, guys?”

Either way while he’s out on bail he’s been trying to do appearances & make money, but it hasn’t been going well.

So take a deep breath & remember things on your end could always be worse… As you check the bank apps on your phones after a weekend of day drinking in Spring weather, take heart in knowing you may have lost multiple tens or hundreds from being a total degenerate, but you haven’t lost millions for being a total creep.
