People Who Are Shaming Me For Unknowingly Shaming A Veteran Should Be Ashamed Of Themselves
So this happened yesterday. I got a random clip sent to me of a marathoner crawling in the Boston Marathon. No context. No clue who it was. Just a guy crawling. That’s not me commentating. That’s whoever sent it to me. Well since I have a long and storied history of hating marathoners I naturally chirped him with some playful El Pres banter.
Well it turns out the guy I chirped was a veteran who was completing the marathon for his fallen brothers. Some pretty deep shit. Ok well that obviously changed things. Obviously I wouldn’t have made fun of him if I knew that.
The bottomline is that Dave Portnoy has a long and storied history of supporting veterans. We’ve literally raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various veterans causes. Whether it be wheelchairs for wounded warriors or service dogs for veterans or tons of other causes. In fact I’ve actually been awarded a purple heart by association from Chaps. That’s how much I love the military. I’ve even gone to the Military Birthday Party as a date before. We have the best military podcast in the world. I single handily led Army to victory over Navy. I mean nobody and nobody is more pro troops than me.
Yet despite my track record I am still being online harassed by the angry mobs on social media. I’m getting slammed with tweets like these.
Well let me say this loud and clear. This is a mistake I will proudly and patriotically make 100 out of 100 times. The next time I see a marathoner crawling I will not hesitate to tell him his race is over. Dave Portnoy can not be expected to know things he doesn’t know. Once I realized the error of my ways I was quick to acknowledge my mistake. So shame on those who are shaming me. Maybe you should do some research on me. Maybe google our track record with Vets. You are the real villains for trying to take the fun out of life and ruin everything this hero fought for. Shame on you. Shame on you indeed.
