Everything With The 76ers Is Fine, Especially All The Team Knees (SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT)
Hey! Feeling good about this game against the Nets tonight. Pretty close right now in the 1st but I’m not worried at all. Everyone is looking strong & healthy.
Side note, just stop reading here. No need to scroll around past these bushes. You’re at the edge of this blog’s property.
HEY. STOP!
HOLD UP, PLEASE! SIR, SIR!
STOOOOOOP!
Well alright, since you’re already past the bushes now – bad news in the 76ers neighborhood…
Sigh. The pessimist in me has a bad feeling about this.
And hate to be this person but I have to say I called it…
From my investigative reporting in February I could see this storm a-brewin':
…putting the pieces together, I think they’re covering up for what really happened over the All-Star Break.
I know Embiid’s a big guy & with that comes a history of back, knee & foot injuries, but I don’t believe basketball was to blame here. I think we’ve got another case of the John Wall’s, and karaoke at the All-Star party is the culprit.
As an avid karaoke-er myself, I know a huge part of it is bending/bouncing/kicking your knees in an exaggerated squat-like motion until the song is done (while moving your arms like a robot, if you’re doing it right). Embiid sang both Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” AND Drake’s “Nonstop” at this party.
“Perfect” is about 04:29 and “Nonstop” is about 03:59. We’re talking about 08:28 minutes of straight knee bending/bouncing/kicking. That’s almost a whole quarter of basketball’s worth of trauma to the knee.
If you’re a fan, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad vibes. I’ll just see myself out now.
