Avengers: Endgame Made $1.2 BILLION In Its First Weekend, A Record By Over $560 Million
I mean, holy shit. We all knew ‘Avengers: Endgame’ was going to be a cash cow at the box office and have a real shot at breaking many, or maybe all, records. But to cross $1 BILLION in the first weekend? It’s unprecedented and shocking.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ set the record last year by a pretty comfortable margin, which was impressive back then. Now it looks like a damn fart in the wind.
Internationally, ‘Endgame’ finally toppled the bizarre opening weekend record set by ‘The Fate of the Furious’ (the eighth ‘Fast and Furious’ movie). It nearly doubled that movie’s total and is a clear historic phenomenon overseas.
Will it beat the “untouchable” record set by ‘Avatar’ for worldwide box office total at $2.7 BILLION? It’s hard to say and, shockingly, still a bit of a longshot. I will dive into it this week in a separate post about the movie’s likelihood of obtaining the record. Even if the chances are a bit slim, the movie is already the 18th highest grossing movie ever and it’s been out for fucking five days.
