Guy Flushes His Grandparents' Ashes Down the Toilet After His Mom Told Him to Move Out

Ashes toilet

SourceAfter his mother kicked him out of her Pennsylvania residence, a 33-year-old man flushed his grandparents’ ashes down the home’s toilet, a bizarre retaliatory move for which he is facing criminal charges.

According to a court complaint, Thomas Porter Wells moved into his mother’s Pittsburgh-area home late last year, but his stay was cut short due to his drinking and alleged use of marijuana.

Police charge that before Wells departed the McKeesport home, he went into his mother Denise’s bedroom and retrieved the cremated remains of her mother and father. Wells allegedly then flushed the ashes down a toilet. …

[I]n a subsequent text message, Wells told his mother that he would someday flush her remains down the toilet, as first reported by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Specifically, Wells texted, “Yup and soon as you die you’ll be going in the same spot where you belong down the shitter you bitch,” the complaint states.

It’s real simple, mom. If you’re going to let Thomas Porter Wells live under your roof, you’re gonna have to live by his rules. And if you aren’t going to let your 33-year-old son enjoy his quiet life of unemployment, booze and ripping bong hits in peace, then you are going to have to pay the price.

Seriously, how are you going to possibly keep a middle aged parent in line unless there are consequences for their negative behavior? Once they realize they can get away with telling you to grow the fuck up and move out without your parents’ ashes ending up in the sewer system, they’ll walk all over you. And soon you’ll never be able to get blazed and watch “Price is Right” over a bowl of Lucky Charms without being nagged about your lifestyle again. It’s about respect. You can’t make hollow threats. There are only so many times that you can promise to flush grandma and grandpa down the shitter and don’t back it up before you lose all the moral authority you’ve worked so hard for.

Here’s the thing about the 50-something year old parents of adult children who live at home. They’ll test you from time to time. But ultimately they want you to set boundaries. They want parameters. It not only makes them feel safe, it lets them know they are loved. And next time, she’ll listen. Believe me. So congratulations to Thomas Porter Wells for not only raising his mother right, but truly living his best life.
