Things in the Tug Rule Hearings are Finally Getting Nasty Enough for My Liking

SourceThe Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office on Tuesday filed a motion asking Judge Leonard Hanser to hold attorneys Alex Spiro and William Burck in contempt and throw out their questioning of Jupiter police officer Scott Kimbark.

Spiro alleged in court that Kimbark said just before he pulled over a customer leaving the Orchids of Asia Day Spa just before Kraft that he did not need to witness a traffic infraction but would instead ‘make some shit up’.

Prosecutors said that this was said to another officer at another time and in a completely different context, and claim that have the footage to back up their claim.

Spiro is also accused of telling Officer Kimbark during a recess in the trial: ‘I have a video of you saying stupid shit.’

He then allegedly told Kimbark that if a fellow officer did not testify he would not use the tape.

‘It is abundantly clear that this “video” was a reference to the imaginary clip of the officer talking about “making up shit” – a video clip that does not exist,’ the motion states.

AndBurck told The Associated Press by phone that he and Spiro “will not be intimidated.” He said they will provide evidence supporting their claims. Burck represented former White House Counsel Don McGahn during special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. Spiro also represents Jay-Z, Mick Jagger and other celebrities in various matters.

“They have made a series of false accusations against us,” Burck said. “This is all an obvious and desperate attempt to deflect attention away from the illegal and unconstitutional actions of the Jupiter Police Department and the state lawyers.”

Alright, Spiro and Burck! That’s how you fight back against government corruption. If you open the can on these worms you must be prepared to go all the way. Because they’re not gonna give up the fight, until one of you is dead. They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That’s the Jupiter, Florida way. And Mr. Kraft brought a Jay-Z and Mick Jagger attorneys to a Palm Beach prosecutor fight.

When I worked in a courtroom I worked as hard as I could to find new and creative ways not to give a shit about the proceedings. We’d take a recess (my favorite part of school and my state career) and invariably one of the lawyers would ask me how I thought it was going and typically my answer was the same. “I don’t know. I’m not paying attention. I’ve been working on the Barstool blog I’m going to go post now. But I’m sure you’re doing swell!”

Well there were exceptions. And those were the rare moments when the attorneys hated each other. That was great theater. They love to tell each other that the jury trial system is the great civilizing influence in our society. I heard that said a billion times. But all that civilization went right down the toilet when there was true hostility and it was personal. Watching lawyers fight dirty is way more fun than just regular people. It’s the difference between watching two barflies in a seedy, dockside pub in a port town get into a hair pulling fight as opposed to two pageant contestants going at it. When all the pretense of mutual respect is gone and now it’s just base, animal hatred.

And you know which side I’m on. The side of the angels. The defendants side. The prosecution made this personal long before one of them call the defense lawyer “an asshole” in open court.

They started it the day the minute they used an anti-terrorist warrant to spy on their citizens getting a little harmless, consensual sexual release. They started it the minute they pulled an illegal traffic stop and lied about human trafficking. Now they’re looking for a contempt finding because they can’t handle the accused exercising his rights as a free American to defend himself. And watching it get uglier by the day is a beautiful thing to behold. Keep up the great work, Attorneys Spiro and Burck. When they’re getting this desperate, you know they are right where you want them.
