Today is the day, Knicks fans! I don’t know how something we have been waiting to happen for months can sneak up on us, but it feels like this lottery came out of nowhere. Maybe it was all the Thrones talk, the NBA playoffs going into overdrive in the last week, or baseball season finally being able to distract us from putting our hopes and dreams in the hands of an 18-year-old kid.

But regardless, the black sheep of New York sports has a chance to have the direction of its entire franchise change thanks to a few ping pong balls. Everything in my Knicks fan heart tells me not to get excited because that team and their lottery representative Patrick Ewing have let me down countless times along with just how much of a longshot landing the 1 pick is.

However then my dumb Knicks fan brain sees a Photoshopped picture of Zion Williamson wearing a Knicks jersey and I start to dream that stupid dream.

Add in that there is an outside shot that God is actually rooting for the Knicks for once instead of outright smiting them and it’s hard to not get excited about actually having a chance at Zion playing at The Garden (or Anthony Davis if the Knicks trade the pick).

I’m not even going to go into a rant about James Dolan being remotely involved in all this being potential bad juju because it’s Positive Vibes Only today. The Knicks are about to win the NBA lottery for the first time since 1985, with Patrick Ewing playing a starring role in both instances.
