Not To Get Excited Too Early But Rick Pitino Is A Betting Favorite To Get The Michigan Job

Well, well, well. What do we have here. According to Bovada, Rick Pitino is a favorite to land the Michigan job. If that doesn’t get you all excited then I don’t know what will. I mean it makes sense. Michigan is a huge job. It’s one of the best jobs in the country thanks to what Beilein was able to build there.

This is going to be an absolutely fascinating search for that reason along with the fact with how late the change happened. We saw Michigan’s rival Ohio State go through something similar with Thad Matta when he was let go in June a couple years ago.

But, back to the main thing here. Chris Beard is the name that’s linked to every main job now. No surprise he’s the favorite, but I’d be shocked if he leaves Texas Tech. He’s from the Texas area and there are rumors that he wants the Texas job eventually. Maybe getting out of the conference to get back in will help, but who knows. I just don’t see him at Michigan.

Now, I am curious to see if Pitino stands by his statement of wanting an apology from the Southern District of New York:

If he drops that, would Michigan bring him in? Obviously Michigan has had its own problems with the NCAA in a past life. But, you have the chance to bring in a top-5 coach of all time. I stand by that. Pitino is that damn good of a coach.

I say let’s do it. Bring Pitino back to America and back to college hoops. It’ll be great for content.
