Josh Smith and Royce White Got Into a Fight and Were Ejected Just Minutes Into Their First Big 3 Game

Man, that’s going to be a long bus ride home for Royce White. Both he and Josh Smith made their Big 3 debuts last night, and they both made it about 5 minutes into the game before being sent home for fighting. Final statistics:

Royce White: 1 assist

Josh Smith: 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals. Basically a Trillion with an ejection. How’s that for style, Mark Titus?

Anyways, while this video is making its rounds across social media, and I am currently blogging about it, don’t think for one second that I’m not privy to the fact that this is probably a publicity stunt. This league is built a little differently than the NBA, and it needs to be to survive. Listen to the announcers embrace the fight. “Oh they gonna put some hands on one another!” as the crowd is cheering. I like that. The fans liked that.

But I’ll tell you something the fans didn’t like: Josh Smith. Last night’s Opening Night was held in Detroit, where the Pistons are currently still paying him $5.3 million next year to NOT play for them. He didn’t receive a very warm welcome.

Nor did he receive a very friendly goodbye (though he didn’t stay very long).
