Lamar Odom, Baron Davis And Jermaine O'Neal Just Got Kicked Out Of The BIG3 Due To A "Lack Of Professionalism"
Source - Back on the bench. Lamar Odom was released from the BIG3 league after attempting to return to his career in basketball.
“Effectively immediately, Baron Davis, Bonzi Wells, Lamar Odom and Jermaine O’Neal will be deactivated for the 2019 BIG3 season,” the league said in a press releaseOpens a New Window. on Wednesday, July 10. The statement claimed the change is meant “to maximize competition, protect the health of players and to raise the level of the professionalism of the BIG3.”

Shout out to Big Baby Davis. I don’t know if any of you watch the BIG3, but for those of you who don’t, it’s awesome. It’s one notch above the And1 Mixtape Tour but with former NBA players. Super physical too. Ice Cube runs it, so he basically just plays his own music the entire time while people sort of pay attention to the game. The whole thing feels like a big party. NOT a ‘professional environment’ focused on ‘maximizing’ competition, which is apparently part of the reason these guys got let go. That because Lamar Odom is a literal crackhead who smoked himself into a coma. The risk wasn’t worth the reward. He can obviously still play, but if they’re trying to clean up the image of the league, I get why they let him go. As far as Baron Davis and Jermaine O’Neal go, I have no idea what the fuck happened. I’d say they probably smoked weed, but I don’t even know if they drug test. Ice Cube doesn’t seem like a guy who cares whether or not his players get high…
Whatever. I don’t think it’s THAT big of a deal that they let these guys go. They still have a thousand other players that are equally as past their prime and ready to not dunk as those three. My only hope is that this doesn’t send Lammy off the deep end. I don’t know how much more his heart can take physically.
The League is coming to Brooklyn this weekend so I think I may go check it out in person and report back on Monday. Regardless, best of luck to the first dudes to get kicked out of the BIG3. RIP.
