Do You Believe In Miracles?: Team USA Erases 12-2 Deficit To Beat Canada In Overtime At The World Cup Of Dodgeball

When you think about some of the most pivotal moments in American history you have events like the Revolutionary War, going back-to-back and winning both WWI and WWII, you have the 1980 Miracle on Ice. And then you have the USA dodgeball team coming back from being down 12-2 to take down those greasy Canucks at the World Cup of Dodgeball.

Sure, it may not have been on the same scale as Average Joe’s coming back to upset Globo Gym. But this was so much more than just a dodgeball game. I’m sure there were some people tuning into this match who couldn’t tell you the different between a dodge ball and a Dodge Stratus. It doesn’t matter. Because this wasn’t about dodgeball. This was about the United States of America making a statement to the rest of the world that we’re not going anywhere. We are the greatest nation on planet Earth. Just when you start to count us out, we come right back with that fighting attitude that got us to being the most powerful nation in the world in the first place. It just so happened that a dodgeball game was the vehicle for us to make that statement.

I mean 12-2. Everybody counted us out. Nobody thought it was possible. They all just thought that America’s time has come and gone. They thought this ~250 year dynasty has finally come to an end. But they couldn’t have possibly been more wrong if they tried. Because when our backs are against the wall, that’s when we’re at our best. God bless America. And God bless dodgeball.
