After Seeing The Footage, It's A Miracle That Dale Earnhardt Jr. And His Family Survived Their Plane Crash Yesterday
Source - The National Transportation Safety Board will arrive at the scene Friday to investigate a plane that crashed while carrying Dale Earnhardt Jr., his wife and their daughter.
Officials said the plane went down around 3:40 p.m. Thursday at the Elizabethton Airport in Tennessee. The family and two pilots survived.
Federal Aviation Administration officials said a Cessna Citation rolled off the end of a runway and caught fire after landing. Earnhardt was on his way to Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, where racing starts Thursday night.
NBC Sports released a statement about the incident.
Kate blogged this yesterday, but I wanted to post it again because I feel like it didn’t get enough attention. There also wasn’t any footage of the crash at the time, which is included in the videos below. It really gives you a sense for just how lucky Dale and his family were to have survived the whole thing.
Here are some photos for those of you who can’t watch the full video:
Dale was clearly shaken up:
Apparently they were on their way to Bristol for tonight’s races too. Scary stuff. Thank God everyone on board is okay. No word on whether or not they’ll make it to the race tonight to see Spider try out for Dave, but fingers crossed they will. Tell your loved ones you love them. Life can change in the blink of an eye. Happy Friday.
