This NHL 31in31 Rangers GIF Thread Will Get You Hyped For The Upcoming Season
The 31in31 series is something you look forward to as a fan because once your favorite team is up, it's awesome. Every NHL affiliated media outlet spends all day talking about them and adds a little extra air to their tires. For the Rangers, they already threw up an absolute fire GIF thread that includes the best of the best from the 2018-19 season.
Mika Zibanejad showing off some moves
We all know by now that Mika is a DJ, so we can only imagine of what sick beat he was thinking about here. I really think the Rangers should consider allowing Mika to make a full warmup playlist solely off of his own material. Talk about a gamer though, without a doubt he'll be a PPG player this season.
King Henrik stacks the pads
Nothing like a beautiful Henrik Lundqvist save. At 37, I still think he has plenty left in the tank. Is he the elite goaltender he once was in 2014? No. Regardless, he will still give the New York Rangers PLENTY of opportunities to win hockey games. Also, I'm trying to be excited for the season, but WHERE the fuck is everyone in this GIF??? It looks like the whole team changed while the Sabers were in the zone.
Filip Chytil goes coast to coast
Did anyone happen to see eliteprospects.com rank the New York Rangers as the #1 prospect pool in the NHL? Chytil is 19-years-old and isn't even in the Rangers top 5 anymore. The Czech young gun had some amazing moments last season, but this was by far the best. Hot knife through butter all the way up the ice, making Chicago look like all of their controllers turned off. He did the exact same thing to the Bruins too. Looking forward to seeing what Chytil can do again this year.
Mika and Chris are BFFs
This one just makes you smile ear to ear. Whenever the Rangers win, something like this always goes down between Mika and Kreids. The excitement they have is so genuine, something that is so important for chemistry and the overall locker room atmosphere. Gotta love it.
Panarin puts on the Rangers sweater
Easily one of the best days I've ever had as a Rangers fan. The day we signed him was truly unforgettable, but it really hit all of us seeing him actually throw on the jersey and smile about it. The New York Rangers signed Artemi Panarin. That will never get old.
Chris Kreider roofing the shit out of Luongo
Aaron Ekblad looking like burnt toast on this one. Once he turns on the afterburners, Chris Kreider's speed is rarely matched by anyone in the league. Good luck stopping that puck too. His snapshot is one of the hardest I've ever seen. I'll never forget when he came to a youth camp I was working at and ripped a hole in the net on his first shot. Unreal. I really hope we haven't seen the last of Kreids in a Rangers uniform.
Brett Howden goes through the legs
I have no idea what kind of sorcery this is. How in the hell did he do this? We've seen through the legs goals before. Marek Malik, William Karlsson, etc. The list goes on, but have we ever seen a goal like this before? Howden showed a lot of skill this season and going forward I see him on the 3rd or 4th line as a key piece to the puzzle.
Lias Andersson breakaway goal vs. Ottawa
We need more of this during the upcoming season to give Lias our golden stamp of approval. He gets a lot of shit, which I really don't fully understand. He's TWENTY years old. Obviously, his production hasn't been great, but we shouldn't even be close to giving up on the two-way center. I'm team Lias for a few more years at the minimum.
Buchnevich toe drag to set up Mika
Ooooooh that was so clean. That's the good stuff right there. Buch to Mika almost always ends up looking so pretty. The hope is Buch continues to get better, especially with that new contract he just signed. In my opinion, he's one Panarin on his line away from being a 30+ goal scorer.
Ryan Strome finishes the most beautiful passing sequence ever
Holy shit what a play. That was telepathy at its finest. I love when the Rangers flex on the Devils and my guy Frank The Tank. They'll forever be the losers of the tri-state area. Also, everyone is doubting Ryan Strome will repeat what he did last season, but I truly believe he's going to be an impact player again. He can put the puck in the net. Plain and simple.
Tony D decimating Boston in the shootout and staring down their bench
This is the winner for me. DeAngelo is an absolute savage on and off the ice. His twitter game is on point and he was 99% effective in puck possession entering and leaving the zone this season according to analytics. Those numbers are extremely important for his play style. I think DeAngelo's potential to breakout as a star defenseman is very high right now. If he cleans it up on the defensive side, he could be the top dman for the Rangers.
BONUS:
Lastly, they do this "fill the lineup" thing for every team, so I figured I'd take a crack at it.
