You may be thinking, why the hell is #BretBug trending on Twitter? Well, do I have a story to tell you.

Yesterday, a George Washington professor tweeted a joke about Bret Stephens:

Initially, this tweet didn’t have more than 9 favorites. The entire story could’ve ended right then and there. It didn’t.

Just hearing the story in a simple 280 character tweet paints Bret Stephens as a complete psychopath. However, thanks to George Washington professor Dave Karpf releasing the emails, Bret looks even worse:

The only way Bret could’ve seen this tweet was if he searches his own name on Twitter. That’s a great way to drive yourself crazy and it appears Bret Stephens has gone full-blown insane. Challenging a college professor to “come to my house” and call me a “bed bug to my face” is bad enough, but also CC’ing George Washington’s provost is another example of making this whole situation even crazier.

This isn’t the first time that Bret Stephens has reached out to a critic. Back in March, he told a journalist that “, you performed the digital equivalent of sticking your penis out of your trousers.”

P.s.

This is my first fall without going to college. There is a lot of things I’ll miss about the college experience. You know what I won’t miss? Professors making sure I call them Doctor.
