Jose Ramirez Is Out For 5 Weeks And The One Game Wild Card Playoff Is In Exactly 5 Weeks....Epic Comeback?
"Expected to return to game activity in 5 to 7 weeks"
Hmmm, hopefully there is game activity to return to in 5 to 7 weeks. Actually, forget the 7 weeks part. This dude is back in 5. So hold on, lemme do this math real quick.
Exactly 5 weeks from today is October 1st. That is the very first day of the Wild Card Round of the MLB Playoffs (AL plays on the 2nd but whatever). If all holds still in the standings, the Indians will be playing in that game. At home. Oh baby this has the chance to be an absolutely epic return!!!
This is the type of shit that needs to happen to go on a World Series run. Jose comes back and gives us the spark we need to do some damage. Here's the only problem though: can the Indians tread water until he gets back?
We're definitely NOT out of the divisional race just yet. But being back 3.5 games with only 32 to play and no Jose, I'm no longer 100% positive we're going to win the AL Central. I'm officially not only checking the Twins scores, but I'm also checking the Rays and A's scores each night, too. And holy smokes this is a close race.
We're at the point where every single game makes you feel like you're on top of the world or completely out of it. The Tribe start a 3 game set tonight with the Tigers (must win) while the Rays are AT HOUSTON. Then we go play Tampa for 3 games. Folks if all goes well, we could be up 3, 4, or maybe even 6 games in a week!!! Okay, calm down. I need to be more realistic.
Just keep us right there the next couple weeks, boys. Get us to that 1 game playoff, Jose returns that day, homers in the bottom of the 9th to send us to New York, and the chase is on.
