This Guy Who Wants To Spend More Money On A TV Than An Engagement Ring Is Getting ROASTED But He's 100% Correct
So the synopsis here is this guy in England wanted to buy an engagement ring on sale for his soon to be fiancee. However, he also started a new job and wanted to buy a more expensive TV. Naturally, he took to Reddit, as one does, and got roasted by Reddit and people he knows for this thought process.
But not here my friend. Not on this site. Not from this married blogger. As of this moment, that money is his and his alone. It’s not 50/50 until there’s a wedding. If he wants to spend more on a TV than a ring – that’s his call. Sure, he’ll have to deal with a pissed off fiancee if/when she finds out, but guess what? She’s still engaged.
It’s been talked about on here before and other Barstool platforms. Buying an engagement ring is fucking ridiculous. You feel the need to spend more than you should because you want her to be able to show it off and not face ridicule. Then on top of that you drop even more money for the wedding band, which again, better have some diamonds and not be cheap.
That’s why I love this guy. Until he started asking around he didn’t give a shit. If he just went all in, it would have been perfect. You know why? You get out of that investment early potentially. Let’s say she found out he dropped more on a TV (which you use every goddamn day) and wanted to leave. Boom, get out of crazy town.
Plus, you could always just lie about how much you spent. No one really has to find out. Just fudge a few pounds (or dollars if you’re in America). Nothing crazy, just make it believable. For example, instead of saying something like $7,600 just say $8,150. You get over another thousand threshold, without a crazy lie and everyone is happy.
All I know is this guy better get a sweet TV. He deserves it after getting roasted on Reddit and in person. Have his lads over to watch a match and drink some beer. That’s way more enjoyable than buying an expansive ass ring and happiness is the key to life.
