Vince Gilligan: Don't Bother Watching "El Camino" If You Haven't Seen Breaking Bad Me: No Shit

(SOURCE)

According to the director and producer Vincent Gilligan, non-Breaking Bad viewers are going to severely struggle with the new Netflix film. The writer warned the public the TV show’s sequel wouldn’t even attempt to explain the events of the HBO programme and what happened to ex-Chemistry teacher Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston). The story will instead pick up exactly where the series finale left off, and viewers will finally get to see where Jesse (Aaron Paul) went after being on the run from the DEA. It’s assumed he survives at least, but who does Jesse meet along his journey following Walt’s death? And how will his story end for a second time?

Trailer 2:

Ummm….. no shit?  Why would anyone watch “El Camino” if they haven’t seen Breaking Bad?  It’s been marketed as a sequel to Breaking Bad from day 1 do that’d be pretty stupid.  Whatever though, a few months back Aaron Paul had teased out that you had to watch this scene to understand the direction that El Camino would be taking

There are a few quotes in here that stick out, but the whole sequence is important:

Jesse: “I’m not turning down the money, I’m turning down you! You said my meth is inferior…. You said my cook was garbage”

*Walt dies* (or so we think)

Walt: “You’re meth is good Jesse.  As good as mine”

So my guess is that this scene basically massaged Jesse’s ego enough and to the point that once he knew Walt and the Nazi’s were all dead as doornails, he could run his own show.  Nobody else out there to get in his way, threaten him, harm him, etc.

Whatever, man (Jesse Pinkman voice).  Just a few more weeks until this show comes out.  Aaron Paul said he’d do anything for Vince Gilligan and that the man’s a genius, which we all know through his writing, but I really think this is gonna be a home run and even outdo Better Call Saul.  We’ll find out next month.
