Sports Illustrated Has the Tennessee Vols Making a Bowl Game and I'd Like to Know What They're Smoking

So, SI came out with its post-Week 4 bowl projections, which included 13 SEC teams. When I saw that number, I thought, “Man, we’re really such an embarrassment that people are picking Arkansas and Vandy to make a bowl game but not us.”

BUT NOPE! Plot twist, somebody at Sports Illustrated — who is paid to do this sort of thing — thinks the 1-3 Tennessee Volunteers are going to play in the postseason.

I am as big a Tennessee fan as they come and there is absolutely not a snowball’s chance in Hell the team that got manhandled by Georgia State, blew a 99.6 percent win probability against BYU and got its doors blown off by a fraudulent Florida team is winning five more games this season.

I mean, assuming the Vols beat UAB, this is counting wins over Mississippi State, South Carolina, at Kentucky and Vandy? While I pray to the Good Lord above that we can avoid a FOURTH consecutive loss to Vanderbilt, there is just no chance Tennessee is going .500 in SEC play.

Anyone who still thinks Tennessee can win six games simply has not watched the Vols’ first four games like I have.

I honestly can’t decide if it’s more embarrassing to be 1-3 and a national laughingstock and just accept that and roll with it or still have clowns like this putting Tennessee in bowl projections and furthering the perception that UT is always overrated by the media and SEC bias and all that jazz.

The good news for everyone back home is that the Vols are off this week so the state of Tennessee can enjoy its college football Saturday free of pain and suffering.

Everyone have a great weekend and remember that the University of Texas would be the University of Mexico were it not for the Tennessee Volunteers.
