The Reason Why CM Punk Got A Tattoo On His Elbow

Today’s Pardon My Take included a pair of interviews. The first was a follow up with Paul Rabil, discussing the new PLL club name that Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter will be naming.

Also on the podcast: former WWE superstar CM Punk. The trio discussed his new movie, relationship with Vince McMahon, and reminiscing on the time Punk and Mr. Cat partied with the Blackhawks after winning the Stanley Cup.

Another interesting portion of the interview was dissecting some of CM Punk’s interesting tattoos. The permanent ink is pretty much everywhere on the Chicago native’s body, including his elbow:

Mr. Commenter: One last question about the tattoos: What’s the spider web? Because I always see the elbow spider web on people and I’m always afraid to ask what it is.

Mr. Cat: Is that a bro tattoo?

CM Punk: No, so I got my elbow done because it’s supposed to be one of the most painful places, it’s right on the bone.

Mr. Commenter: So you do like pain?

Mr. Cat: Oh, not addicted to pain.

CM Punk: No, no. I had fractured my skull, right?

Mr. Cat: Oh, not addicted to pain!

CM Punk: Yeah, I fractured my skull and I got my elbow done to take my mind off the fact that I had fractured my skull.

Mr. Cat: (laughing) You realize how ridiculous that sentence sounds?

CM Punk: Yeah, it’s fucking awful. But I was like 20-something years old. Half the bad idea about tattoos is the way you have to position your body when you’re getting them. So, I’m like this (sticking elbow out uncomfortably) for three, four and a half hours, and your arm just goes numb. And then it’s just super, super painful. And the whole time I’m like, yeah, my head still hurts. This is stupid. This sucks.

Mr. Commenter: It’s not working! Now my head and my arm hurt.

CM Punk: It didn’t work at all. I should have just done drugs.

Well, at the very least, you have to applaud the proactive thinking by CM Punk here. As a former WWE superstar and champion, he sure knows a lot about pain and grit. I guess you could say it was still worth a shot. Anyways, go see Punk’s new movie, Girl on the Third Floor, which debuted today. Here’s the trailer:
