The Hershey Bears Once Again Dominated The Teddy Bear Toss With Over 45,000 Stuffed Animals Collected For Charity

Last night was the Hershey Bears teddy bear toss, the annual tradition where fans throw stuffed animals onto the ice after the first goal to donate to charity. Teams across the minors and juniors take part in the awesome tradition, and the Caps AHL affiliate had theirs last night. And not only did they have a teddy bear toss, they, once again, had a WORLD RECORD teddy bear toss.

USA Today - The Washington Capitals’ American Hockey League affiliate set a record Sunday.

Except it had little to do with hockey.

Fans of the Hershey Bears participated in the Teddy Bear Toss and threw 45,650 stuffed bears on the ice after a first-period goal. All the bears will be donated to children at local charities.

The Hershey Bears owned the previous record of 34,798, which it set last year. Before that, Calgary of the Western Hockey League held the record set in 2015.

Over 45,000!!!! Absolutely shattered their old record of 34,798. Demolished it. There are my two favorite videos from it:

and

Just raining bears in Hershey.

It’s still on my bucket list to get to one of these games. One day. One day. Congrats to Hershey and all the fans for once again doing it big.

Come hang out and talk about it on Twitch
