It Sure Looks Like The Big Bad Slugs Of Cleveland Have John Beilein's Back
Alright so obviously John Beilein ruffled the feathers inside the locker room a little bit the other day when he called the Cavs "a bunch of thugs". I still cannot stop laughing about his spin zone though. "Did I really say thugs? I meant SLUGS!" It's honestly laugh out loud funny how dumb he thinks we all are, and there has to be a 0.0000% chance the Cavs players believe it, right? I honestly thought he was going to lose his job. But it appears the player accepted his apology, and the Cavs are going to move forward with him.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. I guess they can say they accepted the apology because he's their head coach and all, but there's no way that they actually play hard for this guy anymore. I hate to say it, both because I like Beilein AND because I don't think what he said was that bad, but this is about to plague him for the rest of his NBA career. There's no chance this locker room is still behind him. No chance.
If I was giving out gambling picks, I would've told the world to bet on Detroit last night. I thought the Cavs were going to make a social justice statement and get absolutely waxed on the road. But boy was I wrong....
WOW. Now that is a statement. That was the most entertaining Cavs game of the year. Going ON THE ROAD to a tough 14-25 Pistons team and coming away with a win? This team has tuned out the media. Thugs, slugs, bugs, drugs, or rugs. They don't care what he called them….they played hard for him last night.
I mean, Tristan Thompson had 35 points. Yeah, you read that correctly, TRISTAN THOMPSON went for a career high 35 points. First of all, I don't know how he got to 35, seeing as 35 isn't divisible by two, and all this man does is score off alley oop dunks. But he somehow got to an odd number, and he put up his career high, along with 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 assists. One day after the story broke. This speaks volumes to me.
I really do hope that the Cavs are okay with Beilein, because as terrible as it is to be a bottom feeder in the NBA, the Cavs do have young talent. And Beilein is a good coach for young talent. I don't think he'll be the guy when Garland, Sexton, Windler, and Porter Jr. are in their prime, but I do hope he's the guy that gets them there. Makes sure they don't turn out to be slugs.
