Olde Time Hockey: This Nic Deslauriers vs Jamie Oleksiak Tilt Was The Definition Of Chuckin' Knucks
Holy shit. What a fight. What. A. Fight.
The beginning starts off just like any other fight typically would. Both guys go in for the sweater grab, Deslauriers is trying to take the reach away from Oleksiak and Oleksiak is just trying to feel out Deslauriers. But as soon as those grips break loose and neither guy has a great grab on the other?
It's fuckin' bombs away.
And you gotta love Nic Deslauriers. Everybody knows that fighting is slowly getting phased out of the game. We don't get a chance to see too many tilts these days, and especially not fights when both guys are just going toe-to-toe and tossing bombs at each other. But Deslauriers is out here in early January with already his 10th fight of the year. Not of his career, but just this season alone. In the year 2020, Nic Deslauriers has double digit scraps this season. Dude just loves the boys. Unfortunately Anaheim didn't really respond much to that fight since they ended up losing the game 3-0. But they're sitting in last place in the Western Conference and this guy will do whatever it takes to get this team fired up. Even if that means he has to stand in the pocket and take a couple of fists from a 6'7" ogre like Oleksiak.
Making under a million this year and I'd say he's the only guy on that team who really gives a damn right now. Tough spot for the Ducks but maybe give this man another contract to protect whichever stud Anaheim ends up taking in the draft.
By the way, this wasn't the first time Deslauriers dropped the mitts with Oleksiak. Luckily this one went a little better for him than 2015.
