The Mayor Of Portland Wants To Create A Damian Lillard Holiday

Some of you may clown on this, and say it's ridiculous that Damian Lillard would be given his own day despite that fact that he doesn't have an MVP (yet) or NBA title (yet). I am not one of those people. Why? Because Damian Lillard has made it very clear that he loves and is loyal to the city of Portland on a level I'm not sure the citizens or Portland feel. If I had to think of a Blazer that should get his own day in the city of Portland it's like Clyde Drexler and Dame. Maybe give Bill Walton one so everyone can just spend the day getting high, but there is no doubt that Dame is quickly becoming one of if not the best player this franchise has ever seen. Remember, he's just 29 and his new 4 year extension doesn't kick in until the 2021-22 season. At the very least he's on this team for another 5 years which would give him 13 in a Blazers uniform. Chances are he's still playing past this next extension too, and we've heard Dame say time and time again he refuses to ever leave POR to join a super team. To help put in perspective how dominant he's been for this franchise, this is where Dame ranks currently

8th in games played

5th in minutes played

3rd in FGM

2nd in FTM

1st in 3PM

3rd in assists

2nd in points

Would it shock anyone if he caught Clyde Drexler who owns most of those records? I don't think that's crazy. So when you factor in how loyal Dame is, how good he's been for this franchise, I say give the man his own day. Lord knows if the Blazers ever break through and actually wins a championship Dame will have earned himself a holiday week. Having said that, if he ever goes back on his word and eventually leaves the Blazers, there's no way this can be a thing. I feel like you gotta be a Blazer for life to even get the discussion started.

Now, because it's the end of the day, cue the highlights!
