Kobe Was Reportedly Traveling To His Daughter's Basketball Game With Gianna, A Teammate And Another Parent When The Helicopter Crashed

This is a fucking gut punch. Just utterly speechless. Kobe was traveling with his 13-year old daughter Gianna (Gigi) to her game along with one of her teammates and another parent when the helicopter crashed. We all started to get introduced to Gigi over the last year as she would sit with Kobe on the sidelines and stories of Kobe coaching her AAU team went viral. They were by all accounts best friends as much as they were father/daughter. 

I've found myself completely lost trying to put into words how sad this situation is for the entire Bryant family and those of the other family involved. I simply can't. There's nothing that can be said besides how much of a gut punch it is. Kobe and another parent were traveling to something their kids loved. 

UPDATE: It was even worse than expected. There are now 9 casualties, not 5. Just fucking awful. 

I can't stress this enough, don't make any jokes, don't try to be edgy. Two families lost a parent and a child. That's what happened. It's one of the saddest days I can ever remember in the sports world. I wish we didn't have the conflicting reports and people in such a hurry to be first instead of saying the truth. 

RIP to Kobe, Gianna, her teammate and the other parent. Life is fragile, man. Call someone you love, give a hug to someone.
