There is an Escaped Prisoner Hiding in the Bathroom Ceiling at Newark Liberty Airport
NBC New York — A prisoner escaped Customs and Border Protection custody at Newark Liberty International Airport during a routine trip to the bathroom Tuesday -- and investigators believe he may be hiding in the ceiling somewhere, one law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the case tells News 4.
The prisoner was taken into a bathroom at Terminal C; he "disappeared" while inside, the source said.
What a day to have a flight out of Newark.
If you're in Terminal C and need to go to the bathroom, I'd suggest making your way over a terminal or two, because there's a fair-to-middling chance that an escaped federal prisoner might fall from the ceiling while you're trying to pee.
The most important piece of information to come out of this story is that Customs and Border Protection just has prisoners going to, like ... the regular bathrooms at the airport? There's no added security measures in place there?
That kind of makes me root for this guy. Climbing into the ceiling of the Terminal C bathroom is the type of ingenuity that built this country. I can't wait to see how this one plays out.
Just another day in Newark.
