First Look At Marvel's Falcon And Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki Drops During Super Bowl!
Oh shit!!!!!
This was not expected tonight... or at all anytime soon! Especially all three series!
Let's remind everyone what we are working with here...
THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER
PREMIERE: August 2020
LOCATION: Disney+
EPISODES and LENGTH: 6 and TBA
BUDGET: $150,000,000 (This is bonkers)
WHEN IT IS SET: Following the events of 'Avengers: Endgame'
This is the premise...
Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes deal with the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame (2019), in which Wilson was handed the mantle of Captain America.
You know the moment it takes place after...
WHO STARS IN IT: Obviously Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, but also…
Emily VanCamp and Daniel Bruhl have been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before. VanCamp plays Sharon Carter, whose Aunt Peggy Carter had a happily-ever-after with Captain America at the end of 'Avengers: Endgame'. Meanwhile, Bruhl returns to play Baron "Helmut" Zemo, who we last saw at the end of 'Captain America: Civil War'…
Was he in this fucking cell for the entire time between the Snap and the end of 'Endgame'? Seems miserable.
This was our first (albeit blurry) look at Zemo in his comic accurate form.
The interesting new addition is that of Wyatt Russell (you've seen him in plenty of things, including '22 Jump Street' and he is the song of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn… are the Russells the first father-son duo in the MCU after Kurt played Ego in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2') as John Walker, aka U.S. Agent.
We've seen some photos of him in costume on set actually…
We got a quick look at his backside in the teaser…
Here is a good explainer on John Walker/U.S. Agent…
We aren't quite sure yet whether or not he is going to be good, bad, or even both.
I think this shouldn't surprise many people, but… I AM FUCKING AMPED for this series.
All of the Marvel series on Disney+ are going to be tied into the MCU as heavily as the movies. They're putting their top minds and dollars behind it and I expect this to be fantastic. We also know this duo is fantastic together…
Moving on…
WANDAVISION
PREMIERE: Fall 2020
LOCATION: Disney+
EPISODES and LENGTH: 6 and TBA
BUDGET: $150,000,000 (This is also bonkers)
WHEN IT IS SET: TBA
WHO STARS IN IT: Both Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, as well as…
Kathryn Hahn's character is unannounced, but we have seen Kat Dennings and Randall Park before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe…
Teyonah is making her MCU debut, but we have seen a younger version of her character in 'Captain Marvel'…
You would think this implies that the series is set following 'Avengers: Endgame', but 'Captain Marvel' was set in the 1990s and Vision is still alive… so it could be set beforehand? Or during? Or after? Honestly, it is confusing, because this show is expected to be bat shit crazy…
Who the hell knows what this even means. It is set to have a tie-in to 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness', releasing in 2021, as well as the 'Loki' Disney+ series, so anything seems possible for time travel, multi-verses and more…
The biggest moment that has fans talking is the fact that Wanda is finally wearing her comic-accurate Scarlet Witch costume…
She also might be pregnant?
Baby Mutants!?
We don't know much about this show, but it is great to finally see some images. As I mentioned above, there is speculation that it ties into 'Loki', and speaking of Thor's adopted-brother…
LOKI
PREMIERE: Spring 2021
LOCATION: Disney+
EPISODES and LENGTH: 6 and TBA
BUDGET: $150,000,000 (This, like the others, is bonkers)
WHEN IT IS SET: TBA
WHO STARS IN IT: Tom Hiddleston returns as Loki and Sophia Di Martino has an unnamed role. But the most recent news?
WOWWWWWW indeed! I have no idea who the fuck he is going to play, but remember the last time we saw Loki…
He might be jumping from dimension to dimension, but we also see him in a holding cell during the teaser trailer? Let's also remember the premise…
So, we really do not know. The logo has a weird vibe to it and might offer some other clues as well, but what we do know is that this series also ties into 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' as well as…---
UPDATE: Apparently Loki might have been captured while jumping through time and dimensions? Note the shirt…
…then read this from MCU Cosmic…
The logo on Loki’s shirt is “TVA”. In the Marvel Universe, TVA refers to the Time Variance Authority. That’s an organization who monitors alternate timelines in the multiverse and will “prune” those they deem to dangerous to exist.
With Loki traveling through time in the series, he’s probably making all sorts of crazy alternate realities in the Multiverse, so the Time Variance Authority showing up would make a lot of sense. But this could be a hint towards bigger things, as the organization has history with the Fantastic Four in the comics and even Kang the Conquerer…
---
Oh boy. That was a ton of shit to cover from a short tease… and I bet I still missed a few things.
Marvel is about to get weird as hell and I can't wait.
What do you think about the upcoming Marvel Disney+ series?
