Sure The Dodgers Got Mookie Betts, But How Will They Ever Rebuild Their Once Prized Farm System?

After yesterday's blockbuster trade that saw Mookie Betts and David Price head to the Dodgers, one has to wonder how the Dodgers will try to replenish their farm system for the future. Of course they're in ultra win now mode, but you have to think about the future. What if around the trade deadline they need an extra arm in the rotation? You always need a good farm system no matter what.

As you would expect, the cost of Mookie Betts was astronomically high. If you were going to acquire a generational talent who may very well be the best player in your franchise's history you were certainly going to have to pay for it. Just to get a quick grasp on the type of player the Red Sox traded away, here's Starting 9's producer Jay Hay for a quick word.

So Mookie is on pace to be one of the best to ever play the game. Like I said, the price tag was crazy high. If the Dodgers thought trading away one of their many young outfielders and their number 3/4 starting pitcher (to team a not named the Red Sox) was going to get this done then they had another thing coming. No, this was going to hurt. Gavin Lux. Dustin May. Jeter Downs. You want a super team you have to give up the blue chippers and the Dodgers have plenty to pick from.

When it was all said and done this is how the Dodgers top prospect list stands today.

Great job Boston! Enjoy the rebuild!
