Trent Williams Update: Has Had "Positive Conversations" With Riverboat Ron About Returning To The Skins
Washington Post - Washington Redskins Coach Ron Rivera said he has had face-to-face meetings with star left tackle Trent Williams, an important step that could lead to Williams’s return to the team.
Speaking briefly after a meeting Monday of the NFL’s competition committee at the league’s scouting combine, Rivera would not say whether a deal with Williams is imminent. He did indicate that the conversations have been positive.
One person with knowledge of the situation said mostly financial issues stand in the way of Williams coming back, suggesting that Rivera and Williams have worked through the other problems that kept Williams away for all but a week of last season.
Last week, a person familiar with the organization’s offseason planning said that getting Williams to play for the Redskins again is “still a huge focus for Ron,” adding that the “tea leaves” indicate Williams will be back.

I don't know what to think anymore. The entire Trent Williams saga is going on a year-old now and Trent needs to decide if he wants to play for the Redskins or not. I feel he keeps moving the goalposts back, keeps demanding new things, keep dragging this out longer than it has to.
I have long, longggg been on Trent's side of this. The Redskins training staff nearly killed him. I would never in a billion years suggest anyone play on a team owned by Daniel Snyder. But Trent and Dan are apparently actually pretty close, his problem was always with Bruce Allen, who obviously now is gone. I find that kind of conflicting to be honest because Dan and Bruce are best friends, so if you have a problem with Bruce by proxy you have a problem with Dan.
But regardless, I obviously want Trent back. I want him blocking for Haskins and helping out the young guys on the o-line. He's still Trent Williams, after all. Where the major issue will lie is Trent will want another massive extension to play and I'm a bit dicey on doing the the deal he'll demand. He hasn't shown the ability to stay on the field for an entire season and he's over the 30 year old hill.
So I guess it's sort of a toss up what to do. It looks like he'll be coming back, but the price will be steep. The other option is to trade him, which I think should still be on the table. If the Skins can get a first rounder (probably not possible anymore, but hypothetically), you have to highly consider it and just moving on from this entire situation.
