'He's The Best Coach In This Generation Of College Athletics' - Noted Always Truth-Telling Buzz Williams, On John Calipari

Starts at 30 second mark

Who am I to argue with someone as esteemed as Buzz Williams? Who am I to argue with a man who has been successful at Marquette, turned Virginia Tech into a consistent program and is now 2nd in SEC Coach of the Year rankings? Who am I to argue with someone who can coach up these guys?

And just like that he's not wrong about Coach Cal. He's the best coach of this generation (I'm willing to listen to the Saban argument). But what Cal can do year after year and get a bunch of freshmen to play together and compete for a national title is what makes him the best. Look around the country at how many people fail trying to emulate what he does with the big time recruits. Washington is going to miss the tournament (yeah, Quade Green got suspended) with two top recruits. Georgia isn't getting there with Anthony Edwards. K and Duke have lost to Lehigh and Mercer in the 1st round. The list goes on and on and on.

Just to recap since he took over Kentucky he has more tournament wins than any coach in America. He has more Final Fours, more Elite 8s, etc. He's made the Hall of Fame - that seems pretty good. He's developed guys like Josh Harrellson, Nick Richards, PJ Washington and Immanuel Quickley. He's kept guys like John Wall, KAT, Anthony Davis as the top pick in the draft.

Buzz is right. He's the only one that can do this at Kentucky right now. There's not a better fit for Kentucky than Cal and vice versa. Buzz knows it, you know it. Always said you can 100% trust a guy named Buzz Williams.
