40 Year Old White Guy Raps Dr. Seuss Over Dr. Dre Beats and The Results Are Straight FIRE
I don't know about you, but I am (sort of) an optimist. We all know shit is bad. And shit is scary. But every day, I choose to see the silver lining in this pandemic. It's what keeps me sane. Parents spending more quality time with their kids, families eating more nutritious, home-cooked meals, and people with so much time on their hands, they finally start their passion projects, birthing art we may have never been able to experience otherwise.
Would Donny Does have made his riverdance freestyle sans Covid? No. Would Rone have battle rapped his dishwasher without quarantine? No. Would a random Wisconsin native start a YouTube channel for the exclusive purpose of rapping Dr. Seuss books over Dr. Dre beats? SHEEEEITTT. No chance.
Oh, maybe you haven't seen.
Wes Tank (what a name btw) is a musical artist, was performing at a venue and found a copy of ‘One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,’ and happened to have a Dr. Dre beat on his phone. During the show he just impromptu decided to put them together.
The crowd went WILD, obviously.
According to a local Wisconsin news outlet, once the pandemic hit, Wes needed something to do, and Dr. Seuss became his playground.
"I needed something to do, and I had been meaning to do some of these Dr. Seuss books rapping them with Dr. Dre beats, and I decided what better time to do this than right now,” he said.
At the end of March, he uploaded a video of himself rapping ‘Fox in Socks’ to his YouTube channel while displaying the pages of the book. The video went viral, and a month later, it has about 1.6 million views, and over one thousand comments.
I remember a couple years ago there were a few artists rapping nursery rhymes and it was FUCKING AWESOME. I hesitate to say this, but I actually think Wes' execution is better.
They're all great, but The Cat in the Hat is the best one by far.
Given that Dr. Seuss wrote 60 books, we have plenty of these to look forward to. But I don't think we'll ever top a 40 years cheese head rapping FIRE LYRICS about Thing 1 and Thing 2 over the best Dre beat of all time, "Ain't Nothing But a G Thang"
PS If Dr. Seuss was a young man in the 21st century he'd be the most famous rapper alive, no offense to my guy Wayne Jetski.
